Investigators with Durham Regional Police Service say a 30-year-old woman was dropped off at a hospital in Ajax suffering from a critical gunshot wound.

Officers were called to Lakeridge Health Hospital on Harwood Avenue South near Bayly Street West around 3:15 a.m. on Thursday, July 11.

Police say the woman was transported to a Toronto-area hospital, where she remains in stable but critical condition.

It’s not yet known where the shooting occurred and what led to the woman being shot.

There is no word on suspects.

Police are seeking cellphone, dash-cam, and surveillance footage that may have captured the incident or circumstances that led to the shooting. Investigators are also looking to speak to anyone who may have information on the case.
