Man wanted in violent sexual assaults in Durham Region

Durham police are searching for a 28-year-old man in connection to a violent sexual assault in Oshawa and another sexual assault in Ajax.
Officers were called to an apartment complex in the St. Lawrence Street and Simcoe Street South area just after 11 p.m. Wednesday.
A man armed with a knife allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in the lobby of the building. Both the suspect and victim left the area before police arrived.
Officers later found the victim a short distance away suffering from serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Around 1 p.m. Thursday, it’s alleged the suspect sexually assaulted a second victim in the Harwood Avenue South and Hunt Street area in Ajax.
A public safety warning has been issued for Evan Derek Sweet of no fixed address. He is wanted for robbery, sexual assault and assault causing bodily harm.
Sweet is described as a white male, with a heavy build and blond/orange hair.
Police are asking the public to not approach him and call 911 if he’s spotted.
