Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, discuss new movie ‘In Time’

Singer-turned-actor Justin Timberlake leads a star-studded cast in Andrew Niccol’s latest sci-fi thriller, In Time, which portrays a world where time is the currency and people stop physically aging after turning 25.
The inhabitants are segregated by time zones according to their wealth, and the rich live longer while the poor die young.
“The script, when I read it, I just found it to be very provocative, and you know, it made me ask a lot of questions about myself, some of which I still haven’t come up with the answers for, but I like that, I like when a movie does that,” said Timberlake.
The film’s concept revolves around time operating as money, so people quite literally pay with their lives. When Timberlake’s character, Will Salas, who lives in the poorer part of town, inherits a windfall of time from a wealthy individual, he finds himself fighting against social injustice.
Timberlake, who has played many different roles in the past as well as establishing a successful singing career, found himself admiring the character of Will.
“I think I’ve always kind of looked at myself as an ordinary guy who gets to be in extraordinary situations, and I think Will is that, he ends up being that, so, I’ve never gotten to play a character that I wanted to be like, so I was, I was eager to run in the shoes,” said the “Sexyback” singer.
Mamma Mia actress Amanda Seyfried, plays Will’s love interest Sylvia in this film, a girl who comes from the opposite wealth spectrum to Will. Seyfried found that the beauty of the film lay in the seamless script, which grounded the concept in a way that made it relevant to today’s world.
“The concept is pretty extreme and it’s hard to take that idea and actually ground it a point where you can actually relate to it, and make it relevant to our society,” explained the actress.
“I just thought, like, it was seamless, the script was seamless.”
Timberlake and Seyfried join an all-star cast including Olivia Wilde, Cillian Murphy, Alex Pettyfer and Vincent Kartheiser in an action-packed time-bending thriller.
