A Toronto man is facing child pornography charges after Toronto police executed a search warrant in the Yonge and Eglinton area on Thursday.
Police say Brandon Rooney, 30, was arrested and is facing charges of accessing, making, distributing, and possessing child sexual abuse material material.
The firm LoPresti Law confirmed Rooney worked for them as a lawyer and told CityNews he has been suspended.
Founder Joseph LoPresti said the firm was “shocked and disheartened to learn of the allegations against him.”
Police allege the suspect chatted online through a social media app using the following online identities:
- “TOP” (with an arrow inside a box that points up after the word “TOP”)
- “TOP29” (with an arrow inside a box that points up between “TOP” and “29”)
Rooney made court appearance on Friday morning.
