TORONTO, Ont. – More than twenty thousand people joined together in the heart of Toronto to celebrate India Day on Saturday.
The celebrations included a 2-kilometre long parade, which ended at Yonge-Dundas Square where the party was expected to continue for much of the night.
On-stage activities showcased Indian cuisine, culture and entertainment, and included musical performances and vibrant costumes.
The crowd was a sea of orange, white and green, which are the traditional colours of the Indian flag and people.
As the parade made its way down Yonge Street it featured live musical performances and participants dressed in traditional Indian garb.
Bystanders cheered and applauded as the parade went past, which some of the participants described as a surreal feeling.
