Telus phone scam busted

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Telus says the payphone scam News1130 told you about earlier this week, has been busted.  Someone had been posting stickers on payphones telling callers to use a 1-866 number.

People who used the number were charged $24 to connect and $3 a minute.

Telus’ Shawn Hall says the number has been shut down.  “We contacted the U.S. company that sold the 1-866 number to the scammers.  They were horrified to hear what it was being used for and they cancelled the number permanently.”
