Toronto’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade plans 2022 return

The Toronto’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade is planning a return for 2022.

The parade is scheduled for March 20 after being cancelled the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Organizers say the annual Irish celebration will be able to return “following the rollout of vaccinations across the province and the recent reopening plans announced by the Ontario government.”

Mayor John Tory says city council has yet to approve the parade but they will review the application for permits as it pertains to public health.

“Let’s keep our fingers crossed that if we all get vaccinated and we all follow public health that we can have all this stuff happening,” Tory said to Breakfast Television on Wednesday morning.

If approved, the parade will begin at the corner of St. George Street and Bloor Street West before making its way down Yonge Street and ending at Nathan Phillips Square.

Pride Toronto and the Toronto Caribbean Carnival are also planning for in-person events and parades this summer if permitted by the city’s public health guidelines.
