With the unofficial start of summer around the corner, you may think it is time to put away your coat and hat for good, but Mother Nature has other plans.
Environment Canada has issued a frost advisory for Toronto, as temperatures are expected to drop to near or below the freezing mark overnight and into early Thursday morning.
With the recent waves of summer-like temperatures over the past month, gardening enthusiasts may have already started planting.
The national weather agency warns to cover up plants especially in frost-prone areas, adding “some plants may be damaged or even destroyed by frost.”
A high of only 13 C is forecast for Toronto on Wednesday, which is a chilly drop from the low 20s the day before.
Temperatures are expected to remain in the mid-teens on Thursday, but it will start to warm up on Friday, just in time for the Victoria Day long weekend.
The forecast looks promising for Toronto and the GTA for most of the long weekend, with sun and cloud and temperatures in the high teens. The one blip on the weather radar is on Friday evening into Saturday, as there is a high probability of showers, which could make the start of the weekend a wash.
