All lanes of the southbound Highway 400 have reopened from King to Teston roads after overhead sign repairs at Teston Road.
Police say a dump truck hit the overhead sign at Teston around 5 a.m. on Thursday, partially splitting it in two.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says the truck’s box was elevated at the time. The driver stopped for a short while and then took off. Police are searching for the vehicle.
According to police, the overhead sign was in danger of falling onto the lanes below.
The ramp to Teston Road was also closed.
Some motorists who were stuck inside the closure were turning around; however, police asked them to wait for officers to escort them off the highway.
