Toronto police say they have identified the make, model and year of the suspect vehicle involved in a fatal drive-by shooting last year.
Abdullah Farah, 20, was gunned down in front of Cloud Nine Café on Danforth Avenue near Coxwell Avenue around 1:30 a.m. on April 17, 2016. He was struck by a bullet and died later in hospital.
Last year, police released surveillance video of a white, four-door vehicle, believed to have been used by the shooter. It wasn’t clear how many other people were the car. On Thursday, police identified the vehicle as a 2007 Pontiac G5.
Police also want to hear from two people who were with Farah before he was denied entry to the hookah lounge, Det. Leslie Dunkley said at a news conference on Thursday.
As Farah and the two people he was with turned to walk away, he was shot.
“It is quite clear from our investigation that this was a targeted shooting,” Dunkley said. However, police have yet to determine a motive.
He said when Farah and the two people he was with arrived, the car headed east in front of them across the Danforth. It returned a second time, when they were at the front door of the club. It drove by a third time, and then a fourth time, at which point someone inside the vehicle started shooting.
Dunkley said investigators have located the firearm used in the shooting.
