3 injured in Oshawa multi-vehicle crash

Police say three people are injured, one seriously, following a multi-vehicle collision in Oshawa.

Emergency crews were called to the area of Harmony Road near Tennyson Avenue, over the Highway 401 overpass, on Monday morning.

Durham police said the crash involved five vehicles, including a dump truck.

Const. George Tudos said one woman was trapped inside her vehicle. Crews worked to free her from the wreckage. She was then transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A mother and her one-month-old baby girl were transported to hospital with minor injuries.

The area will be closed for several hours while police investigate.

“Our traffic services branch will do a full reconstruction to try to see the sequence of events and hopefully they’ll get information from witnesses at the scene,” Tudos said.

“It was just before the rush hour so we know there was a lot of people in that area and lots of people may have seen what took place.”

CORRECTION: This is a corrected story. A previous version of this story incorrectly identified the truck as a transport truck.
