Dan Uggla blasted a go-ahead homer to lead the Florida Marlins past the Toronto Blue Jays 3-1 on Friday night.
Uggla stepped up to the plate and sent Ty Taubenheim’s first pitch over the wall in left-centre in the fifth inning. The two run drive was his 12 th of the season and second in two games, helping to extend Florida’s season-high winning streak to six.
Scott Olsen took to the mound, winning his fourth consecutive start after allowing just one run and six hits.
Florida’s Miguel Cabrera finally snapped a 13-game RBI drought when he spanked his 10th homer of the season to lead off the sixth.
Toronto’s Bengie Molina, on the other hand, extended his hitting streak to 15 with a single in the second.
