July 30 – StreetBeat – Man Drowns In Toronto Harbour

The 42-year-old man apparently tripped over a granite barrier and fell into the water around 11:30pm, authorities said.
The Toronto Marine Unit pulled the man from the water but paramedics were unable to save him. He was pronounced dead at St. Michael’s Hospital.
An autopsy was scheduled for Sunday.
Officer Struck
A York Regional Police officer is recovering after he was hit by a car while investigating a pedestrian mishap in Markham.
It happened in the Kennedy and Steeles area after a woman was hit by a car around 10pm.
Authorities say a motorist drove past the road block set up at the scene hours later, hit the officer and dragged him about six metres.
He was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The pedestrian struck by the car is also expected to be okay.
The motorists in both incidents are facing a number of charges, including impaired driving.
Suspect Sought
Police have seized a car allegedly involved in a hit and run at the intersection of Jane and Lawrence Sunday morning.
But authorities are still trying to track down the person who was behind the wheel of the 1999 Honda Civic when it hit an 82-year-old woman just after 7am.
She suffered cuts, bruises and a possible broken wrist.
Missing Man
Toronto Police are hoping you can help them track down a man who went missing from a secure retirement facility Saturday.
Officials are looking for 41-year-old Warren Mitrowski (see picture below), who has the mental capacity of an eight-year-old.
He’s described as:
- 5’6″, 150lbs
- Clean shaven with short brown hair and a thin build
Police say he’s often found in coffee shops or riding the TTC. If you spot him call Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS.
One person was airlifted to Sunnybrook hospital Sunday night, after the vehicle he was riding in slammed into a tree on Miller’s Grove in Mississauga.
Police released very few details, but continue to investigate the crash.
