“American Pie” star Natasha Lyonne may be breathing a bit easier after a Manhattan judge promised to drop criminal charges against her, but her neighbour’s dog may still be a bit worried.
The 27-year-old actress was arrested after she allegedly stormed into her female neighbour’s apartment screaming and yelling. According to the complaint filed against Lyonne, she banged on the door, entered the residence, ripped a mirror off the wall and then picked up the woman’s pooch and said, “I’m going to sexually molest your dog.”
Lyonne was charged with criminal mischief, criminal trespass and harassment in December 2004 and a judge later issued an arrest warrant after the actress missed a string of court dates.
That order was vacated Friday by Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Anthony J. Ferrara who promised to drop the charges against Lyonne because she successfully completed a court-ordered drug treatment program and paid $2,000 in restitution.
The actress was given a conditional discharge, meaning that if she doesn’t get arrested in the next six months, that charges will be dropped.
During Friday’s court hearing, a representative from the treatment centre Lyonne attended said the actress completed the inpatient program and continues to receive outpatient counselling.
“She’s done excellently, very well,” Heather Hayes of the Caron Foundation said.
