Bosh Leads Raptors To Impressive Win Over Wizards

Chris Bosh has sunk a slew of pretty baskets over his fairly brief but undeniably successful career with the Toronto Raptors, but he would be hard pressed to duplicate the half-court swisher he drained at the end of the third quarter on Wednesday night.

The 65-foot buzzer-beater highlighted a 34-point performance from Bosh, as the Raptors beat the Eastern-Conference leading Washington Wizards 119-109 at the Air Canada Centre.

“Shoot, it was good!” Bosh said. “That’s all I can say really, it was good. I don’t shoot halfcourt shots, I don’t even practice them.”

Bosh may have made the telling play of the game, but it was Jose Calderon who left an indelible impression with coach Sam Mitchell.

Calderon, who played nearly 40 minutes, finished with a career-high 24 points and a game-high 11 assists.

“I thought Jose was great,” said Mitchell. “Those two guys (Calderon and T.J. Ford), they know each other, they respect each other and that’s what we talk about all the time, making sacrifices.”

Andrea Bargnani finished with 14 points, Morris Peterson had 11 and Rasho Nesterovic added 10 for Toronto.

Bosh was also impressed with Calderon’s play.

“Jose has done a spectacular job, he’s getting better and better every game,” he said. “It’s amazing how far he’s come along.”
