You could potentially have a problem in your kitchen if you own a Maytag or Jenn-Air dishwasher.
Maytag is voluntarily recalling more than 200,000 dishwashers sold in Canada between 1997 and 2001. Some of the machines are apparently leaking rinse fluid onto the internal wiring, creating a risk for possible short circuits and fire.
If you own one of these Maytag or Jenn-Air under-counter or portable plastic tub dishwashers with black, white, almond, bisque or stainless steel front panels you’re urged to stop using it immediately and disconnect the electrical supply by shutting off the fuse.
The company says one incident has been reported in Canada.
To find out if your dishwasher is included in the recall, call Maytag at 1-800-675-0535 or visit the company’s website.
