2 men arrested for assault during protest near U.S. consulate in Toronto

Two men were arrested for assault and assault with a weapon during a protest in downtown Toronto on Saturday.

Authorities say the arrests happened near University Avenue and Queen Street West at approximately 2:30 p.m. where demonstrators gathered outside the U.S. consulate for a protest against the Iranian regime, along with counter protesters.

Police did not release any other details and there was no word about any injuries.

An investigation is ongoing.
