Fatal QEW Crash Causes Massive Traffic Tie-Up

It was a terrible crash and it came at a terrible time – right in the heart of the afternoon rush hour.

Police were dealing with a tragic mishap that claimed the life of one man and created a massive traffic trauma in the eastbound lanes of the QEW at Winston Churchill Blvd. Monday.

One car hit another as traffic sped by beside them, but cops believe the man who died wasn’t killed in the impact.

They suspect he may have had a medical emergency that likely proved fatal, and that caused his car to spin out of control, hit a guardrail and then head into the path of the other motorist.

Fortunately, the second driver wasn’t hurt, although his car was badly damaged.

The accident led to some major tie-ups on the road for several hours, until tow trucks dragged the wreckage away.

Drivers had to divert onto the 403 to escape the tangle, and the roadway wasn’t reopened until just after 5pm.
