Private Duncan Schneider better listen to his sergeant. For one, she’s his superior, but perhaps even more importantly, she’s also his mother-in-law.
Private Schneider and Sergeant First Class Lisa Mesteth are members of an engineer company with the Oregon National Guard, training together for a year-long deployment in Iraq .
Schneider says he feels good about serving under his wife’s mother, insisting he looks forward to his tour of duty in the war zone being a family affair.
He admits his wife will have the hardest part, taking care of a new baby without her mother or husband to help, but hey, at least she won’t have to drop and do 20 push-ups when she speaks out of turn.
