Troy Glaus, Lyle Overbay and Alex Rios all homered to help lead the Toronto Blue Jays to a 7-5 win over the Seattle Mariners on Friday night.
It was the fourth win in six games for the Jays, who are still narrowly clinging to post-season hopes. They now sit 5 ½ games behind the Mariners, who have lost seven straight, for second in the wild card race.
“The odds are against us,” manager John Gibbons said before the game. “We still haven’t been eliminated yet. Run the race and see where it gets us.”
Shaun Marcum survived five innings and left leading 6-4 thanks to some timely power.
Jeremy Accardo capped four strong innings by the bullpen with a scoreless ninth.
