It was a sombre Saturday for one Toronto community, as one of the city’s youngest murder victims, a 16-year-old boy, was laid to rest in Scarborough.
Overcome with grief, some mourners had to be helped out of the funeral service of young Dineshkumar Murugiah, who was stabbed to death last week near a high school he had just started attending.
The church was packed with family and friends there to pay their last respects to the teen, who was knifed in a still unexplained lunch-hour struggle in a laneway near Winston Churchill Collegiate near Kennedy Rd. and Lawrence. He was revived on scene by paramedics, but succumbed to his injuries later in hospital.
Police are still looking for a suspect who got away in a light blue Honda Civic or Accord.
If you know or saw anything, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
