Yonge Street Transformed Into Harlem For “Incredible Hulk” Shoot

The Apollo Theatre is a New York landmark, but the legendary spot is just one of many Harlem sights currently rebuilt on a downtown stretch of Yonge Street while crews film some big-budget scenes from the upcoming Hollywood Blockbuster ” The Incredible Hulk.”

Explosions rang out in downtown Toronto early Monday morning, and there was fire high in the sky above Yonge Street in the Wellesley area, undoubtedly startling a few unprepared locals unaware of the goings on.

The final fight scene of the comic book-based mega flick had extras running for their lives in the typically busy stretch of the city’s downtown core, all of which was done up to look exactly like a famous section of New York’s Harlem area.

“The Incredible Hulk” not only features big time special effects, but also comes equipped with some star power, including physicist turned big green beast Bruce Banner being played by Edward Norton Jr. and his love interest Betty Ross taken on by  Liv Tyler.

Tim Roth, William Hurt and Tim Blake Nelson also have roles in the picture, which is an adaptation of the classic Marvel comic and a remake of a 1978 film of the same name which starred strongman Lou Ferrigno.

The picture is scheduled to hit theatres on June 13th, 2008, right smack-dab in the middle of next summer’s blockbuster season.
