Spears Charged With Misdemeanour Hit And Run

Things just went from bad to worse for fallen pop star Britney Spears.

Fresh off an embarrassing ‘comeback’ performance, Spears was charged Friday with misdemeanour counts of hit and run and driving without a valid license after she allegedly crashed her car into another vehicle in a parking lot in August.

She could face up to six months in jail and a US$1,000 fine for each count, if convicted, said Nick Velasquez, spokesman for the city attorney’s office.

Spears was filmed by paparazzi ramming her car into another vehicle as she tried to turn into a spot in a Studio City parking lot.  She then allegedly took off after assessing the damage.

The owner of the other vehicle, Kim Robard-Rifkin, filed a police report, and a subsequent investigation determined that Spears didn’t have a license at the time.

Robard-Rifkin, a 59-year-old registered nurse, claims she just wants her car repaired.

“I simply want my car fixed, the same as I would fix somebody’s car if I had done that,” Robard-Rifkin remarked.
