Country music superstar Carrie Underwood is in town promoting her new album Carnival Ride. In less than a year the American Idol winner went from being a student in Oklahoma to a double Grammy winner.

Star’s Liz West caught up with the singer to talk about how stardom has changed her life.

“It’s just getting used to things. It’s a different world. I still try to hold on to the pre-Idol Carrie,” she said.

But if Underwood hadn’t made it as a country singer, she had a “Plan B”. Two years ago she was studying broadcast journalism to be a television news reporter.
