There’s a new behemoth in the Entertainment District, and on Thursday night, the doors were finally open. Circa Nightclub’s invite-only opening night was expected to bring out the likes of 50 Cent and Jessica Alba. There’s no word yet if they actually showed up, but it didn’t really matter. There was enough action in the 55,000 square foot club to go around.
And it’s not just a nightclub. It has a movie screening room, a ballroom, and even a recording studio.
“It’s stunning. It brings Toronto to the next level. I think club life here has been good but this will be great,” said one excited partier.
The $6.5 million project has been almost two years in the making and is the brainchild of Peter Gatien, king of the New York club scene in the 80s.
“This is hopefully going to be a cultural experience for most people,” Gatien said. “I think they’ll enjoy and respect it. We want to be part of the city of Toronto . I don’t want it to be a situation where we just take and don’t give back.”
