Peel Cops Make Quick Arrest In Malton Murder

Peel Police spent Sunday probing the region’s second homicide of 2008 after a Malton man was slain in his home overnight.

Officers were called to the house on Hermitage Road, near Derry Road and Goreway Drive just before midnight on Saturday.

The call allegedly came from the victim’s girlfriend and authorities believe there was some sort of altercation in the garage that left 41-year-old Norman Anderson suffering from stab wounds when they arived.

Anderson was found on the driveway just outside of the garage, and was pronounced later in hospital.

“It’s really disappointing,” said area resident Liaquat Khan. “You’re out here, you didn’t notice anything and you know, they end up dead.”

By Sunday afternoon police had a suspect in connection with Anderson’s death. Timothy Belisle, 38, of Mississauga, was taken into custody and charged with Second Degree Murder.

Investigators say the men knew each other and had a confrontation before Anderson was stabbed.

Neighbours add that Anderson, his girlfriend and a 16-year-old son have lived in the home for many years.
