A shooting in the Keele and Rogers Rd. area Tuesday night has claimed the life of a 19-year-old man.
Reports from the scene indicate the victim was shot several times in the back sometime around the dinner hour but the motive for the gunfire or what sparked the violence isn’t clear.
Witnesses recall hearing shouting during a confrontation between several men and then the sound of a gunshot. The victim fell in an alleyway backing on several houses.
“I heard a lot of shouting and swearing,” recalls witness Brent Karding. “I saw that the gentlemen was half laying on the ground, and his friend was trying to help him and shouting that he had been shot.”
Doctors were able to revive the teen in hospital but he passed away later in the night.
Police are said to be looking for two suspects described only as black males between the ages of 18 and 20.
They’re canvassing an ever-expanding area looking for the duo. They took several young men in for questioning, but so far there have been no arrests and no weapons have been recovered.
