Emergency crews were kept busy on the lakeshore near the CNE overnight.
A driver crashed a vehicle into a light standard and knocked it down before fleeing the scene around 3am. It happened on Lake Shore Boulevard West at British Columbia Road. Toronto Hydro moved quickly to repair the damage, which included live wires lying across the road.
While that was going on, police on the scene noticed a fire underneath the cab of a transport truck waiting to get through the intersection. Officers and fire crews managed to put out the flames and no one was hurt.
