Toronto reliever Jesse Carlson and Yankees catcher Jorge Posada got into a fight near home plate in the eighth inning, leading to a bench-clearing brawl during the Blue Jays’ 10-4 win over New York.
Toronto’s Edwin Encarnacion and Aaron Hill were hit by pitches before Carlson threw behind Posada in the eighth.
Benches and bullpens briefly emptied, though order was quickly restored.
Moments later, a nasty rumble broke out.
After scoring on Brett Gardner’s double, Posada brushed Carlson, who was on his way to back up the plate.
The two wrestled to the ground as the benches and bullpens emptied.
Earlier on, Roy Halladay held the Yankees to two runs on 11 hits over six innings, while rookie Travis Snider hit two of the Blue Jays’ five homers.
