The Toronto District School Board has asked Queen’s Park to fund 209 full-day kindergarten programs next fall.
That would cover programs in 75 different schools across Toronto. School boards submitted a proposed list of schools they would like to see have full day kindergarten classes. The Ministry will review the proposals and submit an approved list in January. Schools will be chosen based on criteria laid out by the Ministry of Education including available space, impact on local child care and inclusion of needier communities.
The province has previously said it will give the green light to only 190 programs.
The chair of the TDSB says he’s thrilled with the emerging program.
