Leanne lives near a large wooded area in Pickering.
While she’s always loved the view, she spotted something just beyond her backyard that had her running for her camera.
She points to a video of coyote on her computer.
“This was the first one we saw. It was pretty big – I was really surprised,” Leanne says.
There’s not much distance between her fence and her home, located in the Altona Road and Sheppard Avenue area.
“Later, it was ‘oh my god, there’s so many of them.’ My mom and I were a little scared, to be honest with you,” she adds.
What started out as a single sighting quickly turned in to four coyotes spotted in the Rouge Valley area in the past weeks. Experts say they’re looking for food and as scavengers, that means garbage.
“They may be a little bit more bold this time of year, because they are very hungry,” cautioned Ruby Richards of the Durham Humane Society.
