Pro-marijuana gathering takes over Queen’s Park

TORONTO _ Hundreds of marijuana aficionados are lighting up near the Ontario legislature this afternoon, as part of the 12th annual Toronto Global Marijuana March.

The large crowd gathered at Queen’s Park – with plans to march from the legislature to Bloor Street and then to Yonge Street before doubling back.

The outdoor pot party includes musicians, DJs, speakers and exhibits, as well as plenty of people who want marijuana use legalized.

Marijuana advocate Marc Emery – dubbed Canada’s “Prince of Pot” – is also appearing before the crowd and leading the march as grand marshal.

Organizers have said the march is hoped to help rally support for Emery, who is facing extradition to the United States on drug charges.

Organizers say more than 200 cities around the world are holding similar events today.
