Hugh Hefner and his team are apparently trying to cash in the popularity of 3-D movies by offering an eye-popping feature in the June edition of Playboy.
Next month’s magazine comes with a pair of 3-D glasses to help “readers” get a clearer view of the blurred centrefold Hope Dworaczyk, who’s also featured in traditional 2-D shots.
The glasses make it look like Dworaczyk is handing the “reader” a glass of wine.
The latest feature appears to be the latest effort to boost sales of the magazine, which has seen circulation drop to 1.5 million from 3.5 million four years ago. A few months ago Playboy garnered attention when it featured Marge Simpson on the cover and as the centrefold.
Hef admits he doesn’t understand what all the fuss is about when it comes to 3-D, but said if people are given the option to see something in 3-D, it would “probably be a naked lady.”
Playboy’s new feature is a cross-promotion with HBO’s True Blood. The glasses included with next month’s mag will feature the show’s name.
