A growing number of Facebook users are abandoning the popular social networking site due to concerns over security and privacy, but there are ways to keep certain details to selected friends, or even just to yourself – just edit your privacy settings.
Privacy settings can be found by clicking on the account tab.
Under personal information and posts, you can find the setting ‘posts by me’, with privacy controls for status updates, photos, videos, links and notes.
The options are ‘everyone’, ‘friends of friends’, ‘friends’, or ‘customize’.
Here, you can also find settings which will hide details such as your birthday, interests, and religious and political beliefs.
In addition, you can check on the photo albums section to ensure you are satisfied with how your photos are being shared.
You can also find privacy controls for your contact information, what your friends can share about you, applications within Facebook, and how you appear in search results.
