Google creates new television which unites web and channel surfing

Google staff said they believe they have created the technology to unite web surfing with channel surfing on televisions.

In order to reach the long-elusive goal of turning television sets into internet gateways, Google has partnered with Sony, Intel and Logitech International.

On Thursday, the much anticipated plan for a “smart” TV was unveiled, and Google said it will be “the biggest improvement to television since colour”.

The new TV’s are expected to go on sale this fall in Best Buy stores across the United States, and will expand to other countries by 2011.
