HAMILTON, Ont. – A part of Highway 403 has been shut down this weekend as a major bridge reconstruction takes place in Hamilton.
It is the first time a major southern Ontario highway will use the rapid bridge replacement system – lifting the existing bridge out and replacing it with a new one.
The Aberdeen Avenue bridge construction caused some closures Saturday and will remain fully closed Sunday.
Highway 403 will be shut down both ways at the bridge; however, traffic will be directed onto single-lane bypass ramps from 9 p.m. Sunday until 9 a.m. Monday.
