Ford Takes Major Lead In Latest Mayor Poll

Rob Ford has taken a commanding lead in the race for mayor.

In a recent poll conducted by CTV and the Globe and Mail, 46 per cent of decided voters said they planned to cast their ballot for Ford.

That’s more than double the number of George Smitherman supporters: Smitherman came in a distant second with 21 per cent support. Joe Pantalone came in third with 17 per cent.

The poll, conducted by Nanos Research, also showed that the number of undecided voters has dropped. Now, only 25 per cent of those polled aren’t sure who to vote for. Earlier in the campaign, it was nearly 39 per cent.

Ford held a press conference late Monday morning to outline the rest of his “Taxpayer Protection Plan”, which included promises to improve customer service at City Hall, getting rid of in-camera meetings, and giving more power to community councils.

The election is five weeks away. Toronto residents will head to the polls on October 25.
