Networking site ‘Linked In’ struck by spammers

TORONTO, Ont. – Web security experts are warning social and business network users about a wave of fake contact requests for the social media site Linked In.
When users click on the link on the false request e-mail, they are routed to a site with the notification “please waiting, 4 seconds”.
Over those four seconds, spyware is uploaded on the user’s computer, giving cyber criminals access to the user’s personal information.
Experts at Retarus Messaging Services recommend users refrain from responding to contact requests for any social media site – especially from unknown senders – and delete the emails immediately.
Instead, Retarus advisers users to check on contact requests by reporting directly to the social network which sent the email.
