TORONTO, Ont. – Are you dreaming of a white Christmas?
Well, don’t have to, because it’s near a certainty with snow in the forecast for most of next week, including on Christmas Eve.
680News meteorologist Jill Taylor said we could really use a white Christmas in the Toronto area.
“[In] 2009, we had 15.6 millimetres of rain on Christmas Day, only a trace of snow for 2008 and 2007, 2006 was rather green and mild,” Taylor said.
Meanwhile, snowsquall warnings are in effect for areas to the north and east of Toronto, Thursday, and there are school bus cancellations in and around the Barrie area.
The snowsquall warnings are in effect for: Barrie, Collingwood, Newmarket, Oshawa, Pickering, Orangeville and parts of Wellington and Dufferin counties.
Mike Cira, who lives in Wasaga Beach, told 680News they’re dealing with an incredible amount of snow.
“It can’t be cleared, you have to have a professional clear it, it can’t be shovelled, unless you are out there seven, eight times a day. But with the wind, it just drifts. You can’t see outside my windows, the drifts are roof level,” Cira said.
