Talking With Bruce Boxleitner About ‘TRON: Legacy’

When Bruce Boxleitner got the role of Alan Bradley/TRON in the 1982 sci-fi film TRON he didn’t know anything about computers or video games, but he had a feeling the film was going to be groundbreaking and he wanted to be a part of it. His feeling was correct and when TRON was released in 1982, it was indeed groundbreaking, using computer graphics to show things onscreen most people couldn’t even imagine at the time.

After TRON put him on the map, Boxleitner went on to star in the comedic spy series Scarecrow and Mrs. King and the sci-fi series Babylon 5. Not forgetting his roots, he’s returned to voice the TRON character in numerous video game adaptations of the movie, and is a staple in the breathtaking 3-D sequel, TRON: Legacy.

CityNews.ca spoke with Boxleitner during Fan Expo this past August about the original TRON and his involvement with TRON: Legacy. Watch the full interview below.

TRON: Legacy is in theatres December 17. TRON fans in Toronto will be interested to know that the CN Tower will be illuminated in a blue hue in honour of the film’s release beginning 5 p.m. on Friday, December 17. During the “TRON-tastic” weekend at the CN Tower, visitors will also be able to win cool TRON prizes and get 25% off admission if they bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Food Bank.
