Windsor declares snow emergency

WINDSOR, Ont. – The city of Windsor, Ont., has declared a snow emergency in anticipation of a storm that’s expected to bring 30 centimetres of snow in the next 24 hours.

The city says municipal crews have initiated a snow removal plan to deal with the heavy snowfall.

Officials say plowing of arterial and collector routes will begin once the snow starts to fall.

Residential streets will not be plowed until the storm has ended and the main streets are passable.

Residents who use street parking are being encouraged to park free of charge in arena, community centre and other municipal parking lots and garages.

A statement from the city says removing vehicles from the street will allow plows to clear snow more quickly.
