TORONTO — The Monster is joining the Toronto Marlies.

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Friday that goaltender Jonas Gustavsson has been sent to the American Hockey League on a conditioning stint.

He didn’t have to clear waivers and must be returned within two weeks.

With the emergence of James Reimer, the Maple Leafs have been carrying three goaltenders.

Reimer posted his first career NHL shutout in Thursday’s 3-0 victory over Carolina.

Gustavsson had only made one start since Jan. 7.

In 23 games this season, he has a 6-13-2 record with 3.29 goals-against average and .890 save percentage.
