Police have arrested a convicted murderer in Toronto after he failed to return to prison over the weekend.

Parole officials had granted inmate Ashley Crawford an unescorted pass to Peterborough.

However, on Friday night he failed to return to the minimum-security Beaver Creek Correctional Institution in Gravenhurst.

Officials say Crawford was arrested Monday night at a rooming house in Toronto.

Police spotted him while at the rooming house on an unrelated call.
