Parkdale residents urge man behind violent beatings to turn himself in

Parkdale residents have banded together following a string of vicious beatings against some of their own.

There have been six attacks in the Queen Street and Jameson Avenue area since January 4, one of them fatal. George Wass, 62, collapsed and died just days after being released from hospital following an assault on March 18.

The suspect appears to target vulnerable people who live near Leopold Street, including those with mental illnesses.

Following a community meeting to address the issue, one woman, Paisley Rae, made a YouTube video detailing the attacks, and urging the man behind the violent beatings to turn himself in.

The black-and-white video features a series of hand-written messages posted around the neighbourhood.

“To whomever is attacking Parkdale residents,” reads one sign. It’s followed by, “You’re the one with the problem.”

The video goes on to give the number of a police officer involved with the case, and to describe the suspect. Since he’s usually masked and attacks from behind, only a vague description of the suspect has been provided. He’s 5’9″-5’10” with a medium build.

Police have increased their presence and surveillance in the area and maintain they are using all possible resources to catch the culprit.
