Jays prospect Lawrie returns to triple-A Vegas

After surviving two close calls in single-A on Saturday, Toronto Blue Jays third base prospect Brett Lawrie is heading to Las Vegas.
Lawrie, who broke his left hand on May 31 after being hit by a pitch in Las Vegas with the triple-A 51s, tweeted today that he is returning to the triple-A 51s.
The Burnaby, B.C. native was on a rehab assignment in Dunedin with the club’s single-A affiliate when he was hit once on the left arm and once on the left hand in Dunedin’s 3-2 win over Bradenton on Saturday.
“Fortunately, he’s unscathed and ready to go again (Sunday),” Blue Jays manager John Farrell said prior to Sunday’s game against the New York Yankees. “He’s wearing a hard, protective, almost retro-fit type of glove. It worked.”
Prior to the injury, Lawrie was batting .354/.415/.677 with 15 homers and 49 RBI in 52 games with the 51s.
