Talk about putting a damper on the weekend. Environment Canada issued yellow-level warning for severe thunderstorms in Toronto and many parts of the GTA on Saturday.
The national weather agency said just before 5 p.m. that showers and thunderstorms over parts of northeastern and southwestern Ontario will develop throughout the day and move to the east.

“Note that rainfall amounts will be highly variable across the region and not all areas will receive this much rain. There remains considerable uncertainty as to exactly which areas will receive the highest rainfall amounts,” it added.
The warning was also in effect for Mississauga, Brampton, Milton, Halton Hills, Oakville, Burlington and Hamilton. It ended shortly after 6 p.m.
The wild weather disrupted multiple events across the city, including the Canadian National Exhibition, BTS’ concert at Rogers Centre and the Toronto Argos game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Rain showers are expected to continue on Sunday and throughout the work week.
