Father of missing baby facing more charges

York Regional Police laid more charges Friday against Ricky Doodhnaught, the father of a baby boy missing since November and presumed dead.
The 31-year-old man appeared in court Friday and was charged with indignity to a dead body and failing to provide the necessities of life.
He’s also charged with abduction in contravention of a custody order and two unrelated charges of theft under $5,000.
Doodhnaught told police his infant son George died on or around Nov. 1, but investigators haven’t found the infant’s remains.
The baby’s mother, 23-year-old Nadia Ayyad, is also charged with indignity to a dead body, failing to provide the necessities of life and obstructing police.
Police and Children’s Aid Society (CAS) workers went to the couple’s Vaughan home on Nov. 24 to apprehend two children under a court order. Police said the parents fled to a hotel where Ayyad was arrested and the older child was taken into CAS custody. Doodhnaught fled, police said, and was thought to have taken the baby with him.
He was arrested on Dec. 6, and three days later gave police a statement saying the baby had died.
