A Toronto public school teacher has been sentenced to nearly four and a half years in prison on charges related to child pornography.
However, with credit for time already served, Stewart Adams will spend less than two years in jail.
Adams plead guilty to possessing, distributing and accessing child porn.
Police say they seized thousands of child pornography images and videos from his home in the Eglinton and Kipling area.
The 49-year-old will gets three years probation, and his cellphone and internet use will be restricted.
The judge says a mitigating factor was that Adams was remorseful and wrote letters of apology to his colleagues.
Adams once taught at several GTA schools, including Kingsview Village Public School in Etobicoke.
An investigation conducted by the TDSB found that no student taught by Adam was involved in any of the images.
He was charged in June 2010, after police searched his home and found disturbing images of boys between the ages of 5 and 12.
