Layoffs or reduced hours start for around 300 Pearson screeners

TORONTO, Ont. – If you are flying through Pearson International Airport, it may take more time to clear security.
As of Wednesday, Garda is laying off 63 screeners and reducing the hours of 236 others.
The Canadian Airport Workers’ Union told the Toronto Star the layoffs will lead to longer lineups and will compromise safety standards.
