Man charged in connection to Brampton banquet hall murder

A man linked to a gun used in a fatal shooting at a Brampton banquet hall last April is charged with accessory after the fact to murder, Peel police said Wednesday.
Kearn Nedd, 28, was shot after he stepped in to help the organizer of a poker tournament when two armed and masked men burst into the Rozz Banquet Hall on Advance Boulevard, near Dixie Road and Steeles, on April 16, 2011.
Police said Nedd was acting as a Good Samaritan when he grabbed one of the gunmen. Shots were fired and Nedd was hit. He died in hospital.
The suspects, who fled in a waiting vehicle, are still at large.
A man has now been charged in connection to the murder. Samir Abdelgadir, 30, was charged with dozens of firearms counts back in June after police raided a condo on Living Arts Drive and allegedly found a cache of weapons in a storage locker, including a 9-mm semi-automatic Beretta that forensic investigators positively linked to Nedd’s murder, police said Wednesday. Drugs and ammunition were also seized during that raid, police said.
Abdelgadir is now facing an additional charge of accessory after the fact to murder. He’s currently in custody awaiting trial on the weapons charges. He was scheduled to make his first appearance on the latest charge in a Brampton court on Wednesday.
